I've got a customer with an HP DL360 G5 and an HP DL385 G5 (I think that's what they are according to their badges) with some possible interrupt routing issues, as well as some ACPI problems, and other minor oddities. The kernel I'm running is a somewhat "enhanced" NetBSD-4.0 GENERIC.MP with lots of *VERBOSE and *DEBUG options turned on and a few other minor tunings. There's a dual-port Intel ethernet card installed in addition to the onboard devices on the DL360. After booting the following sequence of messages appear regularly: [ACPI Debug] String: [0x0B] "_TMP Method" [[ ... many of these ... ]] [ACPI Debug] String: [0x0B] "_TMP Method" acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC0: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC1: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC2: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC3: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC4: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC5: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC6: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC7: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC8: AE_NOT_FOUND acpitz0: failed to evaluate _AC9: AE_NOT_FOUND [ACPI Debug] String: [0x0B] "_TMP Method" [ACPI Debug] String: [0x0B] "_CRT Method" acpitz0: failed to evaluate _HOT: AE_NOT_FOUND [ACPI Debug] String: [0x0B] "_PSV Method" "envstat -r" on the DL360 only shows what must be a bogus value: acpitz0 temperature: 8.300 degC There were also some problems with accessing the add-on Intel ethernet ports before I tweaked some interrupt assignments in the BIOS setup. I don't think things are ideal yet either and it seems too many devices might be sharing the same interrupts but I'm not sure if I can do anything about it as the options in the BIOS are severely limited on this machine. Note for example that trying to use the serial port on the DL360 seems to cause the machine to crash -- maybe I'll find more out about this next time I have a chance to be at the physical location of these systems. The DL385 hangs hard on reboot after NetBSD has been running, complaining with a message something to the effect that there's no system ROM to be found, but a power cycle restores the machine to operating condition Both machines have Smart Array 6/i controllers with one logical device configured from the available drives but as you can see below there seems to be some LUN matching problem with the ciss(4) driver. If anyone can offer any advice on tuning or otherwise better adapting these machines to run NetBSD-4 I'd really appreciate hearing from you! The whole dmesg on the DL360 since boot is: NetBSD 4.0_STABLE (GENERIC.MP) #6: Mon Jan 12 19:44:55 EST 2009 woods@once:/rest/build/woods/once/netbsd-4-i386-i386-ppro-obj/rest/work/woods/m-NetBSD-4/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC.MP total memory = 3583 MB rbus: rbus_min_start set to 0xc0000000 avail memory = 3489 MB rnd: initialised (4096) with counter timecounter: Timecounters tick every 10.000 msec timecounter: Timecounter "i8254" frequency 1193182 Hz quality 100 BIOS32 rev. 0 found at 0xf0000 SMBIOS rev. 2.3 @ 0xec000 (56 entries) PCI BIOS rev. 2.1 found at 0xf0096 pcibios: config mechanism [1][x], special cycles [1][x], last bus 15 PCI BIOS has 7 Interrupt Routing table entries PIR Entry 0: Bus: 7 Device: 1 INTA: link 0x60 bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x61 bitmap 0x00b8 INTC: link 0x62 bitmap 0x00b8 INTD: link 0x63 bitmap 0x00b8 PIR Entry 1: Bus: 10 Device: 1 INTA: link 0x60 bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x61 bitmap 0x00b8 INTC: link 0x62 bitmap 0x00b8 INTD: link 0x63 bitmap 0x00b8 PIR Entry 2: Bus: 2 Device: 1 INTA: link 0x6a bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTC: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTD: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 PIR Entry 3: Bus: 2 Device: 2 INTA: link 0x6a bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x6a bitmap 0x00b8 INTC: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTD: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 PIR Entry 4: Bus: 1 Device: 4 INTA: link 0x69 bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x6a bitmap 0x00b8 INTC: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTD: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 PIR Entry 5: Bus: 0 Device: 29 INTA: link 0x60 bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x63 bitmap 0x00b8 INTC: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTD: link 0x6b bitmap 0x00b8 PIR Entry 6: Bus: 0 Device: 31 INTA: link 0x62 bitmap 0x00b8 INTB: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTC: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 INTD: link 0x00 bitmap 0x0000 pci_intr_fixup: no compatible PCI ICU found Warning: unable to fix up PCI interrupt routing mainbus0 (root) mainbus0: scanning 0x9f400 to 0x9f7f0 for MP signature mainbus0: scanning 0x9f000 to 0x9f3f0 for MP signature mainbus0: scanning 0xf0000 to 0xffff0 for MP signature mainbus0: MP floating pointer found in bios at 0xf4fa0 mainbus0: MP config table at 0xf2c05, 564 bytes long pci_addr_fixup: 000:31:1 0x8086 0x25a2 new address 0xe0000000 tbxface-0196 [01] LoadTables : ACPI Tables successfully acquired Parsing all Control Methods: Table [DSDT](id 0006) -
