It could help if you tell the active timecounter
(/sbin/sysctl -a|grep timecounter), and if you
see any diagnostics related to this in the boot log.

You can also try to change the timecounter
(/sbin/sysctl -w kern.timecounter.hardware=xxx with an xxx
from kern.timecounter.choice)
and see whether this helps.
