i decided to use AV530, which has two cpus and i filled it up with ram modules
from AV4300 (4mb) in addition to two 16mb ones. i placed cdrom and floppy
drive there, tape drives seem to be broken and older 3.5" scsi drive. now i
only need to reinstall DG/UX there - still waiting for media - and wait for
NetBSD port :)

i was searching web for documentation for these machines and Data General
itself has not so bad archive of old manuals in .pdf format, which is
accessible at http://www-csc.dg.com/. maybe you could find some interesting
information for your work (there are some programmers guides for aviion hardware
as well)

i also successful identified that last box shipped with those av machines, it
is so called CSS2/DC - Combined Storage Subsystem and it is external box
filled up with cdroms and/or tapes/floppies/hdds connected through scsi.

i would like to give spare boxes to someone (AV4300 is still usable) but i am
in central europe and they are really heavy (and thus expensive) to ship :(

thanks, bye
