Every time I installed too many packages, it would give me unimplemented
trap crashes. The only memory problems yield a sudden quit with an error
message like Application unexpectedly quit, error -##. Increasing the
partition size seems to have cured it. Of course that may be because I
usually run the installer on a PowerMac to keep the PB 145 free. In
addition, the filesystem seems to get creamed whenever this happens and I
end up redoing the mkfs. I'm going to try my fifth (sixth? I lose count)
installation tonight. Maybe I'll have better luck.
On a semi-related side note, I tried to gunzip (with several mac-side
utilities) a copy of netbsd 11.26 that I downloaded. The PowerMac kept
giving an error 11 and a restart box (misc. hardware exception error).
The Powerbook correctly identified the problem as a bad file. Probably a
download error. After all, the download took 25 minutes, poking along at
600 bytes/sec. Groan.
