I used to get this error when I was running my IIci with a video card. I
could run with the video card (but no ethernet). I could run with the
internal video and the ethernet. But I could not use the
external video and the ethernet card.

Also, I needed a kernel that was happy about my internal video. . . .
NFS kernel worked but no serial ports :-( Generic 50 kernel did the
trick for me. Now I have my ethernet working, and internal video. My 16"
E-machines video card is sitting on a heap of ISA scsi, ide, sound and lan
cards in my home office:-(

It's much faster to telnet into my 1.1BSD IIci from my powermac
than it is to display on my IIci locally (X, dt, or console). I also have a
color X server on my Mac and on my Linux machines, which is a bit more
flexible (1278 x 1024) and easy on the eyes.

Defnitely want to get it working.

Not there yet. You'll still have to run ifconfig and set up your network
services. I don't have a router so I'm just setting the NetBSD mac as
the default router on my PowerMac.
