Ummm... not quite true. The NetBSD kernel's quarrelling about 'missing disk
geometry' does not prevent it from accepting the drive as long as there are
no other errors.

It finally makes up a fake geometry based on the total # of 512 byte-blocks
-- usually this fake is made up by the drive.

Some days ago a mail from Bill Studenmund gave further explanation on the
why & hows.
