The rsh "protocol error" message, and the core dump in /, are
from a bug in libc I believe.  If you make sure your host is
defined in /etc/hosts or has a forward & reverse DNS mapping, you
shouldn't see it.  At least that was my experience between a
NetBSD/i386 box and a Sparc.  (rsh done on the sparc)
