Howdy!

A number of people have pointed out to me that OT works on non-PCI
machines. I just wanted to let everyone know that I was muttering
not that it works only on PCI machines, but that OT 1.1 finally
works. And it does this on PCI machines, which can't use MacTCP
(and thus are hosed if OT doesn't work).

Our PCI PowerMacs arrived with OT 1.04, I think. They got upgraded to OT
1.0.6 quickly, and then to OT 1.0.8 when it became available.

OT < 1.1 was an unstable bug fest. 1.0.8 was tollerable, but all of the
earlier versions made us want to send the computers back to Apple.
For the PCI machines, we had no alternative but to use OT. We were
quite angry.

OT still is on our poop list as we bought a computer for network
monitoring, and we need permiscuous mode for the package to work;
OT 1.1 doesn't support it, so our $500/year program is sitting
useless.

I'm glad that OT is doing some good things for people. But given
the hell 1.0.X put us through, I'm not going to be keen on it until
1.2 or 1.3 at least.

take care,

Bill
