I tried to get the X colorkit to work on the a SE/30 with Micron XCEED
Color 30 video card. Given the similarity of my system to Ken's I sort of
expected it to work, but it wouldn't boot.
I've never tried to get monochrome X to work on this machine, though dt
functions ok (on the internal monitor when I attach an external display)
Here's what a kernel that works displays on boot:
adb: bus subsystem
adb: extended keyboard at 2
adb: 100 dpi mouse at 3
adb: relative positioning device (mouse?) (0) at 15
[rather weird, because I only have two ADB devices connected]
mainbus0 (root)
ite0 at mainbus0 (minimal console)
adb0 at mainbus0 (ADB event device)
(...)
grf0 at nubus0: 640 x 480 monochrome QD-compatible (Micron XCEED Color 30)
display
grf1 at nubus0: 512 x 342 monochrome QD-compatible (Macintosh SE/30
Internal Video) display
and with the new .grf one:
Non-system RAM (nubus, etc.):
Log = 0xf9000000, Phys = 0xf900000, Len = 0x6000000 (100663296d)
no internal video at address 0 -- videoaddr is 0xf9000400
Done.
(...)
mrg: I/O map kludge for old ROMs that use hardware addresses directly.
adb: bus subsystem
got following HwCfgFlags: 0xfc00, 0xffffdfff, 0xffffffff, 0xffffffff
mrg: Not setting up egret.
mrg: ADB interrupts enabled.
[hang]
what am I missing?
