I do not know why it is not supposed to work. I tried first to use
GENERIC as it was, then found out that my video device became grf1 and
disabled internal video completely. On this way I noticed that
internal video driver dereference NULL pointer, which is not very
reassuring. I still do not know how to make it work but I can not do
anything about it: I have only IIcx at hand.
To the question how to specify the video device for X: I checked the
Xserver on NetBSD/sparc, it has a usefull option:
-dev fn[:fn][:fn] name of device[s] to open
