I'm working on getting my trusty IIsi permanently running netBSD. Up
until now I've just been poking at it and watching it jump. :) I
installed the tarballs located in wormey's eskimo directory and the
NFS kernel also there (which is supposed to be the same as Generic57
w/ NFS_server activated). Everything went well.
Now I'm trying to install perl 5.002, with its support for NetBSD.
I'm choking on toke.c with a "Timeout waiting for phase change"
ncrscsi0 error that pops up on the console.
The drive I'm working on is the boot device for NetBSD; a Quantum
Fireball 850 mb. Its the last device of three on the chain, preceded
by a Maxtor 120 Mb. and a Zip drive (first device). It occurred to me
as I was preparing this message that there was a post several weeks
ago with a Zip-related problem. Since at the moment I don't plan on
allocating the Zip to the NetBSD box on a permanent basis, I'm not too
worried about moving it off at the moment. I'll try that later. Any
relevant comments?
Different question: I saw a previous post about the Mac's different
serial ports ( as opposed to a PC). I'm planning on implementing a
BBS system on NetBSD (via Perl), and I'm going to need my modem to
clear the line on carrier or terminal drop. Aside from configuration
problems, are there any special concerns I should know about?
Thanks.
