Hi,
I'm attempting to add a second partition (not including swap) to my
filesystem. It seems that although my Mac partitioning software
recognizes the partition, disklabel does not. I've heard that a couple of
things are "broken" with disklabel. Maybe it's part of the problem.
Anyway, here's the info:
Partitions read with MacOS Silverlining software:
Apple (partition map) 31k
Macintosh_SL (Driver434) 32k
root&usr (UNIX_SVR2) 185606k
Swap (UNIX_SVR2) 20480k
Free Unix slice 3 (UNIX_SVR2) 220000k
Big Bad Disk (HFS) 640994k
Partitions as appears with disklabel (sd1c):
# /dev/rsd1c:
type: SCSI
disk: SCSI disk
label: fictitious
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 139
tracks/cylinder: 4
sectors/cylinder: 556
cylinders: 3835
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0 # milliseconds
drivedata: 0
7 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
a: 371212 128 4.2BSD 0 0 0 # (Cyl. 0*- 667*)
b: 40960 371340 swap # (Cyl. 667*- 741*)
c: 2134305 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 3838*)
d: 64 64 unknown # (Cyl. 0*- 0*)
e: 1 2134288 unknown # (Cyl. 3838*- 3838*)
f: 1281988 852300 HFS # (Cyl. 1532*- 3838*)
g: 64 64 unknown # (Cyl. 0*- 0*)
I'm attempting to add the "Free UNIX slice 3" partition. Anyone know of a
reason why disklabel isn't picking it up?
By the way, what does "slice 3" represent? I can guess on this one, but
I'm not sure. Can anyone answer this one?
Thanks for the help,
Jon
