About my read-only problem:

Here is my /etc/fstab file:

/dev/sd1a   /   ufs rw 1 1
/dev/sd1b   none   swap   sw 0 0
kern      /kern   kernfs  rw 0 0
proc      /proc   procfs  rw 0 0

It looks read and write to me. (The sd1a is correct, at least that's what 
the installer mounts.)
