It's called "Serial Switch", and it's available from
<ftp://ftp.info.apple.com/Apple.Support.Area/Apple.Software.Updates/US/Macintosh/System/Other_System/Serial_Switch_1.1.sea.hqx>
or equivalent Apple sites.
I haven't yet tested it to see if the Compatibility mode is actually honored
in a NetBSD boot, though.
