A thank you goes out to everybody who sent me help.

After some experimenting, I found the problem. StuffIt with Expander
Enhancer doesn't seem to unstuff kernels correctly. So I made a NetBSD
partition on my external HD and used the Installer to install the
kernels to the partition. When I booted from it, the kernels worked just
fine.

By the way, where can I get color X window for a Quadra 700 or an LCII?
Will it run at least a decent speed? :-)
