If straight 1.2 doesn't work you should try the latest snapshot
(ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/mac68k/snapshot/)
If you have any problems you should try to note down the error
messages (I believe the latest booter has an option to log
the boot messages) and let the list know, together with the
config of your mac.

is probably the closest I've seen. You'll need a PMMU (Memory
management unit) and an FPU will help, but is not essential -
the FAQ should cover that in more detail.
