You "cpin" the file, then.
Instructions:
1. Copy the kernel file into the same folder as the Installer, [*]
2. Run the Installer and invoke the "mini-shell" from File menu,
3. "Copy-in" the kernel file into MacBSD root filesystem by the
"cpin" command, like "cpin netbsd /netbsd" (where you should
replace "netbsd" with the actual name of your file).
[*] Not strictly necessary, but it makes it easier to do the job.
