Okie dokie. Here is what's happening.
Hardware:
PowerBook 140
4 Mb RAM
1 internal 40 Mb SCSI drive
1 external 40 Mb SCSI drive
1 Iomega Zip Drive (which I haven't been so brave as to try yet, has
anyone?)
Software:
Installer 1.1
Mkfs 1.2
MacBSD Booter 1.9.4
I have, at the suggestion of this list, tried the latest release of
MacBSD, although I have not tried the snapshots. I have used
Installer to install etc12, base12, and the test kernel donated kindly
by Takashi Hamada. In theory this should all work, although I know of
no one who has done this on this specific machine before. Everything
installs fine.
So I try to boot into to single user mode, to finish installing.
Everything goes fine until it tells me I have an untested machine.
It gives me the option to Cancel or Boot Anyways. If I click on the
Boot Anyway part, it immediately goes to a message in the console that
says boot stopped. Gives no reason, it seems to actually thouroughly
cancel the boot. So I figured someone might have goofed and mapped
them backwards. I hit cancel and it processes for a bit, and then
crashes, a solid freeze.
Here is a bootlog of a typical freeze:

Bye-bye...
So I sez to him... The real way

So anyone have any idea of what is happening here?
