Uhh, you might have to recompile the kernel or at least write some device
drivers or something like that. Not for newbies.

I know these two are possible, and I have an idea of how to do both, but
I'll let the rest of the listers answer these, since they are probably
more experienced.

Not necessarily the opposite of the installer. Did you try the
mini-shell? There's a ufs to hfs command in there.
