In trying to sort out the 040 situation, I've made a number of changes.
They shouldn't be fatal for anyone running an kernel generated from a
stock source tree, though folks that have a specially modified 040 kernel
should beware. I have effectively disabled the code that attempts to map
out the memory ranges that the ROM and/or Mac OS have set up, and
consequently dt and/or X will _not_ run on an 040-based machine with a
stock kernel.
I've also committed several non-ADB-related changes for some PowerBook
models. Takashi Hamada kindly supplied the information and/or patches for
many of them (as well as a modification for John Wittkoski's direct ADB
driver), for which I am very grateful. There's also some rudimentary
support for the 2nd SCSI controller in Daishi Kato's Duo 2x0 docking
station, but I'm afraid I'm not sure which one that is. If we're lucky
this will support several different models.
New kernels based on source as of the time of this writing are being
generated and should show up in the next day or so.

PS - those of you with a source tree, a Quadra, and an inkling of what is
going on under the hood here might want to take a peek. If you do,
please let me know whether these changes work for you, or what you had to
do to make them work.
