...did you make device nodes? Make sure your /dev is populated. I'm
not a mac68k user, so I don't know how you'll do that with the Installer,
but that's probably why it's "hung".
As for the panic when you hit return, serial or video console? Could
be a bug in the serial or adb driver... The stack trace is important.
