I think I posted a patch a couple of weeks ago that lets X run in any
resolution... check the port-mac68k mailing list archives on 
ftp.netbsd.org. I've also got a precompiled kernel with the patch, but 
apparently it only works on the 660av and 840av.

If you can't find the patch, let me know and I'll try to dig it up.
