It isn't an answer to your post, but I'm currently using _1.1_ on my LC III:
36MB, however I have to set a RAM size to 30MB on Booter, 1Go external HDD,
sys 7.5.3(J).

Normaly, your friend has to get Wittkoski's kernel which is called ADB kernel.
