yes, there's a patch for apple's hdsc setup 7.5.3 that will let it 
recognize removable media.  i prefer scsi director, though, i got it from 
a friend, so i don't know where to get it, and it's probably not free.

On a zip-related note, I've been having problems with my zip.  almost 
every time i boot up, i get a handful of CANNOT READ: Block #####'s from 
fsck.  the numbers change constantly, and the errors appear constantly.  
it is truly obnoxious.  any ideas?
