Just for the record, after using tar on the latest binary snapshot found
at ftp.macbsd.com and installing base.tar.gz and comp.tar.gz, I was able
to use ps with the GENERIC22 kernel.  I can't proclaim that BOTH of those
files are necessary to get 'ps' to work, but the two of them fixed my
problem.

I've seen lots of questions regarding this, and I figured some of you
may want to know.
