I run NetBSD 1.2 on my IIvx, too.
simple solution: run booter 1.9. not 1.9.1, not 1.9.5, not 1.9.6, not 1.8,
just plain old 1.9. The new versions don't work on the IIvx. also, remember
the regulars: 32-bit addressing on, virtualmemory/ramdoubler off, and
monitor set to 1-bit color (i.e. B+W).
