What was your partition layout? Mkfs_1.4 seems not to recognize the last
entry of the partition map. If you have one large partition that uses
the whole disk, mkfs_1.4 does not see it. If you leave 1 k free after it,
mkfs_1.4 sees it and lets you set it up.

Well, it is "DATA" and that may be everything. Also, the format may be
different from that used in version 1.2.
