No. As Paul mentioned, GENERIC kernels have the ncrscsi driver, and
GENERICSBC kernels have the sbc driver.

If your drives are only having probelms when you don't shutdown
correctly, then you don't need the SBC driver. If you shutdown correctly
and still get massive fsck errors, then you need the other driver.
