Hi Xiamin,

I grabbed a 15" VGA monitor and a liberty adapter and was able to 
reproduce your problems with 832x624.  Also, it seems no matter
what resolution I start in, I get the same address and "fbbase"
in X.  I get something like the following:

        Screen 0 at 0x41ec000, 832 by 624 rowB 832, fbbase 0

with 1024x768, I get the following:

        Screen 0 at 0x41ec000, 1024 by 768 rowB 1024, fbbase 0

Look similar??  It seems 640x480 & 1024x768 like this and 832x624
just hangs.

I've cobbled together a kernel that works in 832x624 at:

        ftp://ftp9.ba.best.com/pub/sbrown/NetBSD/kernels/madhatter#41.tar.gz

Hopefully the problem with -current can be figured out quickly.  The above
kernel is from Saturday's sup(08/30/97).
