Well, I recently upgraded my IIvx to a binary -current snapshot from
netbsd.org.
 
Remember I mentioned something about SCSI problems having to do with the
size of the kernel? Well, I'm getting those same problems from GENERIC-38
and GENERIC-37. I downloaded GENERIC-36 (the one with HW ADB) and that
works fine. The error on 37 and 38 are unexpected phase changes. I can
send the dmsg output if somebody wants it.

I have a wild theory, though. I noticed that wormey built 37 and 38 but
the kernel that worked was built by Scott. Is it possible that wormey is
working with an upgraded system and Scott is working with a fresh build?
When I was building my kernels I was using a 1.2 binary set with an
upgraded config and make. I'm building a kernel on a freshly installed
machine so if it's a problem with old compiler tools I'll let everybody know.

BTW, I've tried SBC and it won't boot. It gets to a line about options pdma=1
and freezes.
