Although many people have successfully installed NetBSD 1.2/1.2.1 on a
Quadra-series Mac, no one has ever booted it successfully (at least not to
any really working degree). This is because (as the 1.2 Release page on
www.netbsd.org states) the 1.2/1.2.1 release do not support the
Quadra-series Macs. Fortunately, -current does. So, you'll probably want
to download a copy of -current binaries and a -current kernel and try them
instead. You can find these at:
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/mac68k/latest/
or any mirrors thereof.

BTW, many AV-Quadra users have to zap PRAM (command-option PR on boot) the
first time in order to get NetBSD to boot properly.
