try it. ftp to a site and see if that kills the connection (don't bother
downloading anything, it probably wouldn't work). that work at all?
try traceroute-ing a machine ouside your network from the netbsd box.

I, personally, have no problem with Dave's use the term "BUG". lots of
software have bugs. a lot probably haven't been discovered yet. just cause
linux+windows+freebsd+etc acts differently than netbsd doesn't mean it's
safe to say netbsd's wrong. but sometimes you gotta live with it.
