Hi,

First of all, to set the "standard" X terminology straight, an X *server*
is the machine that drives the display. In your case, the Macintosh
running MI/X is the X *server*. You can the run X *clients* from any
machine that can connect to the X *server*.

The command 'startx' is to start the X *server*. Since it does not have a
display, it does not work.

I don't see why it should not work if you do this.

On your PPC, start MI/X. It will probably start up with a blank screen.
Then, on your NetBSD box, run whatever clients you want like afterstep,
and probably an xterm to get you started.

I believe it was mentioned in an earlier post, but this would probably be
much easier if you were running MkLinux on your PPC as the X server.
