Here's a new one for ya...

If you have a volume formatted with HFS+ an your SCSI chain, even if it's
only just turned on and not mounted, the booter will hang at the point
where it's to hand control over to the kernel.  That is, the whole dialog
is printed in the booter window and all activity on the screen halts except
the mouse; it is still possible to cmd-power to get the Mac debugger...
