Of the two things, the turning "on" tty00 or tty01 is the more important,
That's why things seem to die. The machine is functioning quite well, it's
just you have no way of getting into it. If you had a network interface
too (Ethernet), you would be able to log in at this point.

It used to be you HAD to turn off ttye0, or else things'd crash. Allen or
Scott fixed that a while ago. :-)
