It works! The "cpin" worked fine. I expanded it in a temporary
directory "/temp" then copied the files over to
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/*
I have no idea why the installer didn't like expanding that file,
but not the X-server works.
Now to figure what's wrong with my ethernet so that I can access X from
my centris, and not be restricted to that little tiny screen :^)
Thanks Colin (and everybody) for the help.
Roger

I'm not. It works just fine for me, and NetBSD-side installs are a lot
faster than under the Installer.
Anyway, to do the install, use:
tar --unlink --xzvpf /path/to/tar/file
although I think that that --unlink might be unnecessary with our current
incarnation of tar.

How strange.
Well, I hope the above helps.
Later.
