This sounds very much like the 'ppp-chat' file is not right. I was =
getting the same types of behavior out of my modem. =20
Here is an example of my ppp-chat file:
ABORT BUSY
ABORT "NO CARRIER"
ABORT "NO DIAL"
TIMEOUT 10
"" AT
OK AT&FL1M0
OK ATDT$NUMBER
TIMEOUT 60
REPORT CONNECT
name: $LOGIN
word: $PASSWD
tion: 11
tion: 1
The last four lines are specific to my ISP connection. In line 6, I set =
the modem to its factory defaults (&F), then the speaker to off (L1M0).
Your modem settings could be different, but look in this direction to =
see if this helps.
have a UNIX on me.

Well, I posted to the list about getting PPP configured and running on=20
NetBSD 1.3. I've tried suggestions from several people and every time I =
tinker with my settings I get a different error every time. Sometimes=20
the modem dials and then just stays open (and trying a network program=20
like telnet doesn't work). Other times pppd comments that the serial=20
line is looping back and quits.
