[My $.02] While fiddling with xdm today I happened to notice something odd.
I have a IIci running netbsd 1.3.1 with video_lkm a Nubus video card, and
the OSFA X Server. The machine is set to 8-bit color in MacOS, and when xdm
first starts up, the colors are screwy. The first time you log in, blue is
green, red is maroon, yellow is pink, etc. However, when the session ends
and xdm restarts the x server, the colors are as they should be and remain
fine for the rest of the logins. 

AFAIK xdm simply sends a SIGHUP to the X server to reset it and the last
time I booted, I logged in remotely and sent a SIGHUP to the X server and it
reset itself to the proper colors. I'm not sure why it starts out wrong, but
it clears itself up for me the first time the server is reset.
