As a partial answer the -AV Mac's need 7.1, update 3.
If you don't have the original disks then creating it is kind of a trip.
First you create a minimum system for Quadra's, then you do a custom
update, or something like that. I had to create the system on my 7500, I
couldn't do it directly on the 840-av for some reason.
Signature failed Preliminary Design Review.
Feasibility of a new signature is currently being evaluated.
