It depends on how much CPU time you want to dedicate to the serial port.
As LocalTalk demonstrates, you can get up to 240300 bits/sec. If you
take over the whole CPU.

I'm not sure what's wrong w/ MacOS. Are you doing a lot of LocalTalk or
Floppy access? Those would certainly tie up the CPU.

The fact it's working well under NetBSD just says we got the serial
driver working well. :-)
