I am suddenly unable to start X on my P550.  The result of `startx` is"

	giving up
	xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unbale to connect to X server
	xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

A core file is produced as well.  

There has been no change to the system since the last time I successfully used X.

Any ideas?
