ok, this is what you have to do... first of all, i don't think you meant
to add it to "ls.so.conf", but ld.so.conf. then, in your path variable
[csh] set path = /bin..... (in your .cshrc file)
or in bash, in your .profile
you want to add all of the X bin paths: /usr/X11R6/bin (i am pretty sure
that startx is in there). You can also run the x daemon (xdm), which will
ask you to log in through X, and start an x session that way too. to start
xdm at startup, edit your /etc/rc.conf, find the line that contains xdm,
and set it to YES. it should look somethin like this:
xdm="NO" # x display manager
