I'm not sure if this will help. I thought the original post mentioned
getting to where the screen went white & started to boot. We thus got out
of the booter into the kernel.

I'd bet there's some problem with the video on this system, or something
about the ram setup. I think that's the stage where we're playing w/
mapping video mem.
