I just installed xcolorsel and took a look at the colors.
What a mess.  Maybe it explains the strange colors of my
program windows.

The color names shown in xcolorsel are not the color is 
displays for most colors-- ie: chocolate is really a light
blue.

I think what may have happened is that I edited some file
on one of those late nights (when I was even more clueless)
 that controls color offset. I can't remember very well now.

Is there a file controls color offset and where would it be?
