I continue to be stumped by the problem of accessing
an external modem from my PB 145B, under the
GENERIC-104 kernel.
In response to Bill Studenmund's suggestion: no,
I cannot get the modem lights to flicker by using
echo "ATDT/n" > /dev/tty00
I have tried to get MacOS to turn on the serial
port -- the power conservation slider (under
the powerbook control panel) is set for maximum
performance, and I dial out under MacOS just
before booting NetBSD.
I set the ports to stty raw under the serial port
option of the booter.
Fred Bruckman suggested using stty to
turn on clocal, and to turn off crtscts and
ixoff. I can do all of these, without error
messages. But cu -l /dev/tty00 comes
back with
.connected
and then does not respond to AT, or ATDT,
and so on. It does, however, exit as expected
when I type [CR], ~, then period '.'
I'd be grateful for suggestions as to what to try
next!
