more X startngeness
ok so here's the info from startx.log
/usr/libexec/ld.so: symbol __sys-errliist at 0x4239cf8 in
/usr/lib/libc.so.12.40
changed size: expected 332, actual 320
/dev/grf0: Couldn't get video mode information via ROM driver.
This is not a fatal error.
I gather there is no ROM driver support for this screen...
I will treat this screen as StatcGray or TrueColor.
Screen 0 at 0x423b000, 640by 480, 8bpp, rowB 640, fbbase 0x67e000.
when I booted the machine this morning it went straight into X(to my
surprise) and brought me to a login window
I login asroot and it takes me through an endless loop of restarting X
and giving me the same login prompt
the only way to break the chain is to control-c to the console and login
as root there . Once I do that i can startx and actually get ito x
windows. Althought it still brings up a login prompt...this time called
xlogin.
What is going on here?
Thanks in advance
Sal
