Hello,
I just got my Mindspring/Covad DSL connection,
which assigns a dynamic IP address at connection time,
and I thought it might be fun to set up a router
(I don't know much about networking).
Dusted off my centris 650, installed NetBSD 1.3.3,
and messed with dhcp configurations for a while,
but never got the centris to connect with the ISP.
So I investigated further, and ran into an apparent
dead-end: the DSL service uses PPP over ethernet
(PPPoE), and apparently NetBSD 1.3.3 doesn't
support that.
Questions:
1. has anybody had success in connecting with
pacbell or mindspring DSL service, where the IP address is
allocated dynamically?
2. do I need a PPPoE client at all?
thanks!
