Thought you might like an update...
The generic and sbcgeneric versions of the NetBSD-29 both die during
boot on my PowerBook 145B. In both cases, they get to the
"identifying filesystem: ffs" (or words to that effect) line and
then panic, with a message about cntab something something NODEV.
This is the same place that -24 died, *except* build 24 had all sorts
of trouble with SCSI geometry or some such, whereas the kernel output
for both of the -29 kernels is free of this, just as in 1.4.2
1.4.2 continues to boot OK.
None of the above kernels give any indication of supporting the onboard video.
I'll try the two MRG kernels when I get a chance.
