When using my mac68k/1.4.2 system through both telnet/Ethernet and
getty/serial (due to the machine being headless I can't verify of this
on the console), I'm getting unusual [and annoying at times] CLI i/o
behaviour.

One example of when this happens is when signalling a shell-spawned
process with the likes of ^C/^Z, another plain keystroke is required
(^J) before the output from the interrupt is shown.

Cause?  Cure?
