I'll wait to hear from others on this. If no one has tried it,
I will take one for the team. I have a friend that runs one
SE/30 with 1.4.x on it, and a batch of Quadras, and he says 1.5
reportedly messed with the performance of Quadras, specifically
SCSI, I believe, and hasn't upgraded yet.
My SE/30 got a lot of attention at DefCon last year. Many
people didn't believe it was all genuine Mac SE/30 parts inside,
because "UNIX Doesn't run on stuff like that." With a smirk I
was able to confidently say "Haven't your heard the phrase 'Of
Course it runs NetBSD!'"
Granted, I've hacked it up a bit. It's got 32 Megs of ram, and
I added an extra power cable inside and mounted 2 SCSI Hard
Drives in there, 270 Meg and a 1 Gig (The 1G drive will be replaced
by a 4 Gig Barracuda once I sell off my RS/6000 Model 250. It's
currently in the RS6K, but I'm not giving up the hard drive when
I sell it)
Painting the case is a blast but it takes a lot of patience and
a careful hand, especially when using cheap spray paint like I
did. I'll try to get better photos of it up close. The dangerous
part about painting a baby-mac is taking it apart because the CRT
is out in the open once you get the case off, and you have to take
the whole thing apart to do a good job painting.
This is my first real discussion here. I usually find what I need
in the archives. I know i've been a tad bit verbose for my first
day on the list. I'll settle down soon enough.
Thanks!

I really can't help with the question (I run Quadra's and they seem to
run 1.5 fine), but I will say kudos on the paint job, it looks awesome!
I painted quite a few of my PC cases, but never the monitor or keyboard
(lack of required patience). I think you've just inspired me to create
"Green Apple" and "Red Apple" out of my quadra's :)
